AFIN Central Fund Administration
The role holder will play a pivotal role in generating revenue and improving efficiency and productivity through overseeing and optimizing the operational aspects of the fund. This position requires a strategic, commercial and independent thinker with deep expertise in fund administration/ operations, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to ensure the efficiency and compliance of fund management processes.
Primary duties and responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the fund operations team, ensuring the efficient and compliant management of all fund-related activities.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance overall efficiency.
- Build a productive, central hub for Amicorp Financial Markets business in Cape Town
- Grow the revenue through individual and team efforts to achieve the revenue and EBITDA growth targets
Investor Relations:
- Manage relationships with fund investors, serving as a point of contact for inquiries, updates, and reporting.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of investor communications, statements, and reports.
Fund Accounting and Reporting:
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate fund accounting and financial reporting.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of fund performance reports, NAV calculations, and financial statements.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including reporting obligations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to stay abreast of regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to fund operations.
Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within fund operations to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices and leverage technology to streamline fund management workflows.
Team Management and Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing fund operations team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the fund operations department.
- Lead by example by recording time and approving timesheets of team members on Maconomy
Vendor Management:
- Oversee relationships with third-party service providers, including other administrators, custodians, and legal advisors.
- Ensure that vendor services align with the fund’s operational needs and standards.
Audit and Compliance Reviews:
- Facilitate external audits and regulatory examinations, working closely with auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Implement corrective actions based on audit findings and recommendations.
Technology and Systems:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of fund operations technology and systems.
- Stay informed about industry-leading technology solutions to enhance operational capabilities.
OTHER DUTIES
- Undertake the role of director, nominee, manager, partner, secretary, authorized signatory or any related position in internal entities or client entities of the Group, where necessary and required by the Management.
- Undertake such other duties, related to the position, as may from time to time be agreed with Management.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Business Administration. CPA/ CA/ CAIA qualified or part qualified (preferred but not a must)
- At least 5-8 years’ work experience in fund administration, with a good understanding of the daily operations of fund administrator including compliance, NAV computation and transfer agency function.
- Knowledge of regional financial markets and different financial products.
- Solid understanding of ledger entries, accounting for different transactions in the investments industry and their impact on financial statements.
- Hands on experience in the field of Fund Accounting, Investor Services, Fund Structuring and/or Fund Directorships. Good understanding of local market Fund regulations. Knowledge of PFX Paxus would be an advantage.
- Experience in Private Equity fund structuring, waterfall distribution, carried interest calculation are highly appreciated. Basic understanding on offshore jurisdiction fund structures as well as industry relevant regulations including FATCA, CRS, BEPS, GAAR, ESR.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, preferable in regional languages.
- Exceptional client facing skills. Well-developed spoken and written communication skills and the ability to tailor style to relevant audiences, and successfully liaise with people at different levels. Excellent English language fluency; additional languages preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, solution driven, highly organized and detail-orientated with good decision making and time management skills. Independent, hands-on and takes accountability to deliver solutions and results.
- Ability to adapt and work in a smaller, dynamic local team environment with tight deadlines; along with being part of a bigger matrix organization. Proven team player skills, with ambition to excel in the role and grow into fund origination and structuring.
