The role requires a high-caliber professional to join our Merchant Banking unit.
This is a dual-role leadership position requiring a “hunter-executor” hybrid—someone who can independently originate high-value mandates while maintaining the technical rigor to oversee seamless execution.
The ideal candidate will bring a sophisticated understanding of capital markets and a deep network of corporate relationships, ensuring the firm remains a dominant player in the competitive advisory landscape. He has to take the responsibility of building the entire team, training and allocating responsibilities.
Primary duties and responsibilities
- Business Development & Revenue Generation: Identify and originate new mandates across IPOs, Rights Issues, QIPs, Open Offers, and Buybacks. You will be responsible for meeting annual fee income targets and expanding the firm’s market share.
- Transaction Execution: Lead the end-to-end execution of capital market transactions. This includes overseeing due diligence, drafting offer documents (DRHP/RHP), and managing the regulatory interface with SEBI and Stock Exchanges.
- Sector-Agnostic Advisory: Provide strategic financial counsel to clients across diverse industries, focusing on capital structuring and navigating complex regulatory frameworks.
- Relationship Management: Build and sustain long-term relationships with C-suite executives, promoters,
and institutional investors. - Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise junior associates and analysts, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest institutional standards of quality and compliance.
TIME RECORDING:
- Accurately record chargeable time and value of service, ensure effective monitoring of transactions, handle pricing, invoicing and collection of outstanding fees for the portfolio of clients.
- Monitor own productivity and chargeability on weekly basis and review productivity and performance against targets. to ensure that individual financial targets and client communication KPIs are met.
- Follow a disciplined approach to submitting timesheets for client work and meet the weekly and monthly time/chargeability targets
OTHER DUTIES
- Undertake the role of director, trustee, nominee, manager, partner, secretary, authorized signatory or any related position in internal entities or client entities of Amicorp Group, where necessary and required by the Management.
- Undertake such other duties, as may from time to time, be required by the Management or/ and Group Human Resources.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Professional Credentials: Chartered Accountant (CA), MBA (Finance) from a premier institute, or CFA Charter holder.
- Tenure: 10–13 years of core experience, with minimum 5-7 years with a Category 1 Merchant Banker.
- Track Record: A proven history of generating significant revenue and a portfolio of successfully closed marquee transactions.
- Profound knowledge of SEBI (ICDR) Regulations, Companies Act, and Takeover Code.
- Expertise in financial modelling, valuation methodologies, and complex deal structuring.
- Strong command over the legal and compliance aspects of equity capital markets.
- Exceptional negotiation and “pitch-room” presence.
- Strategic thinker with a “discreet wealth” advisory mindset—prioritizing long-term institutional trust over short-term gains.
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate high-pressure deal timelines.
- Strong commercial mindset, takes initiative, positive and proactive, dedicated, focused and revenue and target driven.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent client facing skills. Well-developed spoken and written communication skills and the ability to tailor style to relevant audiences, and successfully liaise with people at different levels. Excellent English language fluency; additional languages preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, solution driven, highly organized and detail-orientated with good decision making and time management skills. Independent, hands-on and takes accountability to deliver solutions and results.
- Ability to adapt and work in a smaller, dynamic local team environment; along with being part of a bigger matrix organization. Proven leadership and team player skills, with ambition to excel in the role.
